MUSICAL BLISS ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS

“MBE SONG SUPERSTARS”®

MUSIC TRIVIA SINGING CONTEST

SPONSORED BY TGI FRIDAY’S RESTAURANT, EASTON, PA

CONTEST RULES

This contest will be similar to the popular “Don’t Forget the Lyrics,” television song lyrics singing contest.  Contestants will come from the TGI Friday’s Restaurant community.  Patrons can compete for the opportunity to be chosen as the MBE SONG SUPERSTAR CONTESTANT of the night, as details follow below.  The chosen MBE SONG SUPERSTAR CONTESTANT will go on to choose and sing songs from 10 Categories.  Once the category is chosen, the contestant will sing the song to the audience, making sure to remember to sing the correct lyrics.  A correct answer will win the prize at that level.  The contestant will continue on to the next song until one of the following three situations occur:

1.      The Contestant chooses to stop and keep the current level status

2.      The Contestant loses a Song Challenge

3.      The Contestant wins the Final Song Challenge and Grand Prize

The Pre-Competition Round

Patrons will fill out a brief survey, choose two friends/family/audience members to be backup singers, and then enter the pre-competition round.  All approved pre-competition contestants will compete against each other at the same time to answer 10 Music Trivia Questions read aloud by the DJ/HOST.  These questions will be answered by each contestant, in private, by writing the answers down on the piece of paper.  The pre-competition contestant answer forms will be collected by the DJ/HOST and reviewed for correct answers.  The pre-competition contestant with the highest number of correct answers will advance to the MBE SONG SUPERSTAR CONTESTANT status, competing for all the prizes.  The remaining contestants will exit the competition at that point for the night.  In the event there are multiple pre-competition contestants with a tie for first place, all tied contestants’ names will be written on a piece of paper and placed into a BIN by the DJ/HOST, then presented to the Bartender on Duty, who will choose ONE SLIP from the BIN.  The name of the tied contestant chosen from the BIN will advance onto the MBE SONG SUPERSTAR CONTESTANT status.

The MBE SONG SUPERSTAR CONTESTANT Round

The chosen MBE SONG SUPERSTAR CONTESTANT, and his/her two chosen backup singers, will come up to the Contestant Stage Area.  The Contestant will take stand in front of the Microphone Position, while the backup singers will be seated behind the contestant.  The Contestant IS NOT allowed to communicate directly with the Backup Singers during the competition, unless it comes to the point where the contestant chooses to use ONE BACKUP SINGER to help with a SONG QUESTION.  The backup singers are also not allowed to communicate with the contestant or blurt out answers.  If these rules get broken, the contestant would be disqualified.

The contestant will choose one of the first 9 categories.  After choosing a category, two songs will be revealed.  The contestant will choose the song he/she wants to compete with.  After choosing the song, the DJ will announce the number of missing words that must be completely sung by the contestant in order to win.  That song will be played by the DJ, and the contestant will begin singing the song to the lyrics displayed on the screen.  At some point, the DJ will turn off the lyrics from the television monitor and the contestant will continue singing the number of missing words required.  The DJ/HOST will record/write the words sung out by the contestant.

When the missing words have been completely sung, the DJ will stop the music.  The DJ will review the answer with the contestant, who will have a chance to think about his/her answer.  He/she can make any changes he/she thinks is appropriate.  If the contestant is worried about his/her answer, he/she can choose one of the THREE SONG SUPER SAVERS.  If the contestant is still unsure, he/she can continue using SONG SUPER SAVERS until all three have been depleted.  Once out of SONG SUPER SAVERS, the contestant MUST finalize an answer.  When the contestant is ready to FINALIZE an answer, he/she will speak out the words, “CRANK OUT DAT SONG”.  This will lock in the answer chosen by the contestant.

Once the answer is locked in and finalized, the DJ/HOST will “crank out that song”, repeat playing the song from the beginning until the correct answer is revealed.  At that same time, the DJ/HOST will sing out the lyrics with the contestant.  Now here is the catch…the songs will come from Karaoke CDs, which are notorious for printing the wrong lyrics on the screen.  So, it is possible that the correct answer will not be printed on screen.  The CORRECT ANSWERS will be pre-recorded in writing by the DJ/HOST before that night’s event.  While the contestant may be singing the wrong lyrics, the DJ/HOST will sing the correct lyrics from his/her written answer sheet.  The DJ/HOST’s written answer will be the absolute dominating decision as to whether or not the answer is correct.

Now, a contestant can CHOOSE to STOP COMPETING at pre-defined points during the contest.  If he/she chooses to STOP COMPETING, he/she will walk away winning ALL or SOME PROMO ITEM prizes won up to that point, and ONLY the HIGHEST DOLLAR AMOUNT won up to that point.  The contestant CANNOT STOP once the Song Title is chosen by the contestant and the song has begun.  Now this is a major difference from the television show, which allows the contestant to walk away if he/she is unsure of the answer.  In our game, if you choose a song, you must answer it or leave a loser.  So, the contestant can choose to STOP after any song, before choosing the next category, or before choosing the next song.  So, he/she can choose a category, see the song titles, and then choose to STOP, but cannot STOP once he/she chooses the song.  Again, the DJ/HOST will have the final say in this matter.

A contestant loses if he/she chooses a song and then FAILS to CORRECTLY ANSWER a song question.  The losing contestant will leave the game at that point, losing any and all DOLLAR AMOUNTS previously won, but will be allowed to keep some promo items won prior to that point.  In the event the contestant loses on the very first song question, there will be a parting gift.

If the contestant wins the Grand Prize Final Song Question, that contestant WILL become the MBE SONG SUPERSTAR of the week, will win the Grand Prize Dollar Amount, and will win ALL Promo Items.  NO MORE THAN ONE DOLLAR AMOUNT PRIZE CAN BE WON!  That contestant will also be presented with a special MBE SONG SUPERSTARS Award Certificate, with his/her NAME Imprinted on the Certificate, which can be picked up at the next event night.  There will be the opportunity for a Photo Opportunity with the MBE SONG SUPERSTAR, MBE STAFF and TGI FRIDAY’S STAFF to possibly be used in any marketing/promotional advertisements.  Perhaps a memorial plaque can be created and displayed on-site at TGI Fridays, commemorating all MBE SONG SUPERSTARS Grand Finale Winners.
